Practise Qigong
Take a deep breath...
Welcome to Q Qigong - a place for keeping yourself mentally, physically and emotionally fit. Qigong can be a fast paced exercise making you feel you have had a gentle workout or it can take you to complete calm and peace, all in one session. Qi means 'energy' and gong is interpreted as 'skill', so all we are doing in a session is being more skilful and mindful of our own energy. Do not have full movement? No problem, fortunately, anyone at any age or physicality can practise Qigong. What are you waiting for, get in touch here.

Breathing
It's good to breath, we would all be in a lot of trouble in about 3 minutes without it. Do we breath the right way though? Often we rush through life on autopilot without giving breathing much thought.

Fortunately, in Qigong, we do. We often start a session with a conscious breathing exercise and then breath in certain ways throughout the rest of the session. You may yawn, feel light headed or ultra invigorated
- all normal.
Movement
We do not all have to run a marathon or even a 5k to gain the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Qigong is more subtle yet it can still give you all the positive benefits - the key thing is to keep moving, especially as we grow older. A saying in Qigong is that 'the hinges of a moving door never get rusty'. This is the same for our bodies.
There is plenty of movement in Qigong ranging from stretching, knocking and warm ups - everything to keep your body and mind in tip top condition.
Flow
'I am in the flow' - this is often what you hear from people that are intensely focused on something they are doing, often something positive. Whether they are painting, exercising, cooking or within nature, they will channel their attention into what they are doing.

It's the same with Qigong - once we have warmed up and activated the body we move into beautiful flowing movements that focus the mind, body and emotions into positive intention.

Another Qigong quote is that 'a flowing river never gets stagnant'. How true this is of the body and mind.
"One who knows others is intelligent, one who knows themself is enlightened."
Lao Tzu, circa 500 bc (translated by Johnathan Star)
